A sensor node is a complete modular soil monitoring system with different sensor modules, solar panel and control electronics. It can be deployed in a field for complete crop cycle for monitoring the various parameters of the soil.
What is a sensor node?
How does sensor node work?
Once a sensor node is deployed in a field, it will monitor the various parameters of the soil and periodically send the data. It also generates alerts on mobile "When to irrigate?" and "How much to irrigate?".
How does sensor node help farmer in agriculture?
Once a farmer installs a sensor node in his field, he will get timely alerts for optimum irrigation. Optimum irrigation will help the farmer to save water and improve crop yield.
As per the feedback from agricultural scientists, two to three sensor nodes are sufficient for an acre. But in certain situations where field is not very uniform, maximum of five sensor nodes may be required.
The duration between two successive readings can be customized as per the customer needs. The minimum duration between two successive reading is 1 hour.
The sensor node should be be installed at the onset of sowing and should be removed after harvesting the crop. The system should be reinstalled during the sowing cycle.
